Chris Christie Is A Scumbag

Apparently one of the hippos from Camden’s Adventure Aquarium broke loose and is now running amok in the Armpit of America. Oh wait, that’s just our governor, Chris Christie. Though he has only been in office for about two months, he has already fucked things up.
Christie’s master plan to improve the budget involves cutting funding to all of New Jersey’s school districts. Some districts are facing cuts of up to 64% of their budgets. Who knows how many teachers, assistants, and secretaries will lose their jobs because of these cuts. Faculty members of schools across the state (including this author’s mother) have already received layoff notices. But it is the kids who will undoubtedly see a decrease in the quality of their education who are the real victims here.
What makes this situation even more ridiculous is that New Jersey recently was awarded $216 million from the federal stimulus package to build a bunch of new schools. Now we can only ask who the fuck is gonna work in them? It seems to me that part of the reason Christie called for the school budget cuts was to be a slap in the face to the Obama administration for creating the stimulus package. Well Chris Christie can play politics all he wants, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of New Jersey’s children.
Want to know another reason Chris Christie is a scumbag? He announced that he will do away with New Jersey’s Office of the Child Advocate. This office was created to protect the interest of abused and neglected children. The running of the office costs $1.3 million, a relatively small sum for such an important organization. I guess Chris Christie just doesn’t care about kids.
Now I know governing a state isn’t easy. Especially when that state is considered to be the Armpit of America. But there has to be a better way to save money than getting rid of services that benefit the state’s children. Why not raise the taxes on cigarettes or alcohol? People would still buy those things, and if they complain about the price increase, then they can move somewhere else or quit doing those things.
I never thought I’d say this, but I think Jon Corzine was a better governor than Chris Christie is shaping up to be.
