It’s the end of the year, which means nearly every website will have some kind of listicle recapping the year that was. (By the way, how is WordPress still flagging “listicle” as a spelling error in 2019?!) In my early days of blogging, I’d routinely participate in this annoying habit and share my personal favorite posts from throughout the year each December.

While my posting has been pretty sparse for the last few years, I thought I’d resurrect this feature for 2019. Though it was a bit difficult given the meager quantity of posts from the past year, I gave it my best shot. Here it is!

1) Best Post for Getting in the Halloween Spirit

There are plenty of scary things in New Jersey – the traffic, our sky-high property taxes, Teresa Giudice, etc. But one of the scariest things I ever experienced was staying in a creepy cabin in the Pine Barrens! Read all about the trip here!

Does Central Jersey exist? This centuries-old debate has finally come to an end, as New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy officially declared its existence! Check out my thoughts on this meaningful yet totally unnecessary declaration!

3) Best Post about South Jersey

Have you ever wondered what there is to do in South Jersey? In addition to the strip malls and strip clubs found all over the Armpit of America, South Jersey is home to the Pine Barrens. The Pine Barrens, in turn, are home to some creepy cabins – and I stayed in one!

4) Best Post about Politics

Do you like talking politics? Of course, we all do – especially with relatives at the opposite end of the political spectrum! Then you can’t miss this post full of some great conversation starters about the performance of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy!

5) Best Post for Architecture Enthusiasts

I didn’t forget about all you fans of architecture out there! New Jersey’s homes come in all styles, running the gamut from Victorian and French Provincial to Mid-century Modern, Craftsman, and the highly desirable McMansion. But for some truly unique Jersey architecture, why not head out to the Pine Barrens – that’s what I did!

6) Best Post to Determine What Part of New Jersey You’re In

2019 was certainly the year of self-identification, with more accepted ways to describe one’s gender and sexual orientation than ever before. But if you live in New Jersey and aren’t sure whether to classify yourself as a Northian, Bi-Central, or Cis-Southern, this post may help you understand where you fit in.

7) Best Post Written in the Shortest Time

Creating posts for this blog isn’t always easy. I typically spend hours researching each one, interviewing subject matter experts, and dealing with an asshole editor (myself). But sometimes I just want to post something real quick. Check out this post for an example!

8) Best Post Where I Tried Too Hard

In case you didn’t know, I stayed in a creepy cabin in the Pine Barrens earlier this year! While it was kinda spooky, it really wasn’t that bad. But check out this post where I tried really hard to make it seem like it was!

9) Best Post Where I Didn’t Try Hard Enough

Whenever I reread one of my posts, I’m always impressed with my wit, impeccable word choice, and ability to entertain my legion of fans in a humble and modest voice. But with some posts, I look back and notice all the flaws or things I could have done better.
